The Armory Art Center is home to the Armory Art School and Armory Art Gallery, based in West Palm Beach.
A new position has been created for a Director of Education at the Art School, reflecting the recent success of the Armory in expanding its range of visual art classes and student numbers, plus an increased emphasis on Palm Beach County community outreach.
The new Armory Art School Director of Education will report to the Armory Art Center Chief Executive and will be responsible for all aspects of the Armory Art School, including: implementation of a new strategy developed by the Chief Executive, art class curriculum, Spring Break and Summer Art Camps, Visiting Master Artists workshops, general staff supervision (including chairs of sculpture and ceramics departments) and the Artist-in-Residence program.
The individual needs to have at least five years supervisory experience in a visual art department, teaching position or equivalent. In addition, this person must have a strong interest in taking the arts out to the public through community outreach programs and alliances with related organizations. An advanced degree or equivalent experience is required, plus an understanding of non-for-profit organizations and fund-raising would be useful.
Position anticipated to be filled by August.
