Technical Director/Instructional Assistant Professor Position:
Theatre Arts Program, Texas A&M University
The Theatre Arts Program in the Department of Performance Studies, Texas A&M University, is seeking a full-time Technical Director.
Teaching load: two courses per semester in theatre technology and other areas of expertise.
Production responsibilities include technical direction for department productions; management of the scene shop, including set construction, props, lights and sound; mentoring and oversight of student production staff and employees; management of production spaces. Design opportunities possible.
The position requires strong communication skills, understanding of the educational mission of an undergraduate B.A. program, and a desire and capacity to supervise and mentor students in scenic construction and general production skills. Proficiency in Vectorworks and experience in stage management preferred. Academic background: MFA in theatre technology preferred; MA with 5 years experience considered. Salary commensurate with qualifications.
Start date: August 1, 2010.
