Bangor University is establishing a world-class Arts and Innovation Centre in a £35+million iconic new building in the heart of the city. Located in a vibrant bilingual community with a rich cultural heritage, the Pontio (‘bridging’ in Welsh) Centre will promote innovation by bridging arts, science and technology. It will also provide a dynamic impetus to the performing arts and to the regeneration of the region. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a transformational new initiative, working across arts, sciences and innovation.
The Role:
• Further develop and communicate a clear strategic vision and mission for Pontio. • Work with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University staff, and a wide range of stakeholders, to help ensure the delivery of the building. • Build and lead the Centre’s management team and work on the creation and delivery of innovative, inspired and integrated programmes for the Centre. • Deliver academic, artistic, commercial and service excellence, enhancing the recognition of Pontio as a cultural, community, learning, research and regeneration organisation.
The Candidate:
• A strong and inspired leader and manager with the capability to think strategically, develop a vision and work across arts and sciences to translate aspirations into reality. • An excellent communicator, able to build relationships and work with academic, artistic and local communities by establishing a strong collaborative environment. • Track record of successful senior management in higher education, the performing arts or other relevant environment, with budgetary, business, and fundraising experience.
