The Director’s responsibilities include:
Leadership/Vision
1. In partnership with the Board, formulate future directions and artistic vision for the Council.
2. Provide creative leadership to staff and Board to carry out and implement an overall artistic vision and direction that maximizes the organization's impact.
3. Lead the organization through development, implementation and monitoring of strategic and operational plans, along with policies and procedures, which translate the vision into action.
Operational and Financial Management
1. The Executive Director has full authority and responsibility for the staff and their activities, including hiring, performance and assessment, and any required disciplinary or discharge actions in consultation with the board.
2. Plan, organize, direct and coordinate the staff, programs and activities to assure that objectives are attained and plans are fulfilled.
3. Insure that ArtsEast is adhering to policies established by the Board, organizational by-laws, and any applicable Federal and State regulations regarding employment, public facilities, event management, health and safety codes, and ADA requirements.
4. Supervise the development and administration of the operating budget, financial management and reports. Insure that the Council is adhering to applicable accounting best practices for nonprofits and that all required Federal and State reports are filed in an accurate and timely manner.
5. Manage the partnership between the Council and Eastern Oregon University with regards to grounds, exterior building maintenance, and general usage agreements.
Fundraising
1. Coordinate fundraising activities, research and pursue potential funding sources and individual prospects, make personal solicitations where appropriate.
2. Work with staff to research, develop and implement an annual schedule for drafting and submitting grant proposals.
3. Direct, promote and participate in fund-raising activities including, but not limited to, grant writing, annual appeal, and special fundraising events.
4. Monitor fundraising activities and report to the Board on a monthly basis.
Board Relations
1. Work with the Board of Directors, advise on short-term strategies and long-term organizational design options for the success of the Council, thus defining the strategic priorities for the Council. Translate the strategic priorities into plans for implementation.
2. Work in partnership with the Executive Committee on appropriate issues, policies, and strategic direction.
3. Communicate and implement Board decisions through formalized documentation of policies and procedures.
4. Oversee or implement any special projects assigned by the Board of Directors that fall within the mission and scope of the Council, such as capital campaigns, community events, or new program development.
Public Relations
1. Direct public relations and communications efforts and serve as spokesperson to the community and media.
2. Bring a high degree of visibility to the Council by performing as an ambassador for the organization.
3. Develop and strengthen partnerships with local, regional and State arts organizations and community groups.
4. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with local arts organizations and EOU administration and faculty.
Requirements
