Function:
Assist the Arts Center Technical Director with providing technical services support for the Performing Arts Instructional Programs, Community Arts Instructional Programs, Community Rentals and Visiting Performing Artists. Assist with the planning, coordination, preparation and execution of Arts Center event technical services. Provide construction, maintenance and event support services and supervision, when needed.
Responsibilities:
Provide lighting, sound, set construction, load-in/strike and rigging support and event coordination.
Supervise performances and theatre technicians in the implementation of performance needs.
Provide routine and customary maintenance of performance and rehearsal facilities and equipment.
Assist supervisor with event and staff schedule generation, hiring paperwork, time sheets, requisitions, estimates, reports and other documents related to supporting technical services.
Act as liaison between supervisor and stakeholders.
Assist supervisor with monitoring supply inventory.
Schedule, transfer and compile archival sound and video recordings
Perform recordings.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's level knowledge of technical theatre or equivalent experience and training
2 years of professional experience in technical theatre
Knowledge of principles of stagecraft, basic rigging, lighting and sound control systems
MS Office proficiency and ability to learn/use Department databases and technical theatre drafting applications
Dynamic problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Ability to work collaboratively and multitask
Ability to address matters of safety associated with all aspects in the production of theatre
Ability/flexibility to provide support during the times of greatest need to set up and manage performance events (duties of event set up occur during the day and in the evening, while event rehearsals and performance events occur both on weeknights and weekends)
