Northeastern State University invites applications for the full time position of Instructor/Assistant Professor of Art in the College of Liberal Arts. MFA Preferred. Professional experience in graphic design/web design/multimedia development in strongly preferred. Teaching experience preferred, evidence of scholarly activities is desirable. Qualified candidates will have teaching and/or work experience in the areas of graphic design, web design and multimedia utilizing Adobe Creative Suites products in a Mac environment. Preference given to candidates that also have the ability to teach one or more of the following courses: Printmaking, 2D Design, Color Theory, Art Education or Illustration. The successful candidate will also be the art gallery coordinator. Gallery experience is desirable but not required. Duties include academic advisement of students. While the faculty member's primary responsibilities will be in Tahlequah, the faculty member may be required to teach at one of NSU's other campuses.
The successful candidate will teach in the Department of Communication, Art and Theatre. The art program has experienced substantial growth in recent years and currently has four full-time faculty members plus several adjunct instructors. The main campus in Tahlequah has approximately 7,000 students and is located in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. The region offers numerous outdoor recreational opportunities and a cost of living significantly below the national average.
